Apple Spice Scent Recipe
2-3 thinly sliced apples (we like red delicious)
3-4 cinnamon sticks
2-3 star anise seeds
3 cloves
2-3 slices of fresh ginger
1 tablespoon of ground nutmeg
Water
Add ingredients and enough water to cover them completely to a saucepan on the back burner of your stove. Bring water to a simmer on the lowest setting and stir occasionally for 30 minutes, or until the apple slices become translucent. Enjoy!
If you want to preserve the liquid to reuse, strain the solids out for storage in a sealed container or dropper bottle. To diffuse the holiday spirit, carefully add a few drops on top of the firewood in your fireplace (before lighting it!) or outdoor fire pit (again, before lighting the fire) for a warm, toasty spice-scented evening.
Gingerbread House Time
Engage the whole family in a fun activity away from digital screens by assembling a pre-made gingerbread house. Use classic holiday flavors like candy canes and gumdrops, or add surprises like Swedish fish or popping candy.
